Colin is roped into one of Sarah and Richards' plush bashes when he could have spent the evening having a long soak and a feast in front of the box, especially after the sort of a week he had. At the party, Colin meets John Langley, a publisher, who is on the look out for new writers on the macabre. Could this be the chance he's been waiting for?

After going on a bender with his best mate, Des, Colin wakes up in a cold sweat and the doctor orders him to lay off the fast-foods and the booze for a fortnight. As a reward he and Jenny plan a day of gourmet delights, that is, until she remembers a prior engagement with Rosemary and Stuart.
4. Pussyfoot (08/11/88)
Colin celebrates becoming a professional writer, but his troubles have only just started. He has been given a deadline, has writers block and the last thing he needs is Des coming round to distract him by falling out of his first floor window! Still with no story, and the deadline looming near, Colin is in full-harassed mode. Just one more distraction and Colin just might hurl his typewriter out of the window! What he needs is a trip to Suffolk.
5. Back From Bengal (15/11/88)
Colin is on tender-hooks as he awaits news about the story he had sent John Langley. Richard and Sarah return from India and invite him and Jenny to view their snaps. Colin, eager to return home to be there when the telephone rings, goes totally berserk and spoils the evening for everyone. Jenny locks him out and Colin is deeply sorry for being selfish. When he goes round to apologise to Sarah she is upset for finding out about Richard's indiscretion. Colin proceeds to get an ear-bashing and has the life drained out of him.

1. A Bit Whiffy (12/01/90) [Script]*
The big day has arrived. The Langley Book of Horror have published Colin's story and to make sure, Colin rings the publisher - "Barring a plague of locusts devouring every copy your story will be in the book - Colin, that was a joke!" So Colin's on cloud 9 and things move fast as he meets Alan Hunter, the maverick film producer - would Colin fancy writing a screenplay?
2. Piece of Cake (19/01/90) [Script]*
Poor Colin is invited to Guy's wedding and hardly knows the man, but was sadly penalised for sharing a room with him once on a school trip. Weddings, never again. So when he gets an invite to be Trevor's bestman he is not best pleased.
3. Zanzibar (26/01/90)
Alan Hunter returns. He wants to see him, pronto. He wants a treatment. Colin's week of leave is over and his colleagues can't find the Jackson File - "Try looking under J!" or the wait-til-I-get-back file. Mr Jackson had hijacked a train! A bad day for Colin, but also a good one - he has enough venom for a Hunter treatment. And to spoil it all guests Rosemary, Stuart and Joshua show up.

Sleepless nights for Colin as he divides his time between BR and countless rewrites for Alan Hunter. Did Kafka go through all this?
5. Frank (09/02/90)
Sarah and Richard are back together again to Colin's amazement. Trying times for him as he struggles to come up with a suitable ending to his screenplay while the driving to her new job in Berkshire is taking its toll on Jenny. Colin spots Richard kissing a stranger, and bad news lurks around the corner.
6. Out To Lunch (16/02/90)
Stressful and rewarding times for Colin, as he misses his father and production starts on his screenplay. Jenny suggests a holiday and Colin picks France, for gastronomical reasons.
